Katherine helped Noah find the schools that were the best fit for him, and she kept him organized and on target. We did not feel stressed at all during the application process. The advice Collegewise and Katherine gave was very personalized, and her rapport with both students and parents is excellent.
KELLY, PARENT OF NOAH BROWN UNIVERSITY
Katherine helped our daughter find schools that were a good fit and ended up suggesting the school Elizabeth loved the most (and where she was admitted early decision). Her warmth and encouragement helped Elizabeth feel proud of her accomplishments and confident as she put her best foot forward in her college search.
LISA, PARENT OF ELIZABETH JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY
Katherine was instrumental in helping my daughter narrow down what she wanted in a college environment and keeping her on track throughout the entire application process. The individual attention she provided with application essay writing was invaluable and, I’m sure, a key component to Katy’s acceptance to UCLA!
SISSY, PARENT OF KATY UCLA
Collegewise helped me get into my dream college. Mrs. Folkman and the Redondo Beach team were kind, patient, and truly dedicated to providing each student with a very personal experience that eased the college application process. Without them, I doubt I would have gotten into one of the top engineering colleges.
SIENA OLIN COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING
Katherine made the application process easy to understand and took all of the pressure off of us as parents. Our son took ownership of every step, and under Katherine’s guidance, he put together a spot-on list of schools. He was thrilled to receive multiple acceptances and several very generous scholarship offers.
SUSIE, PARENT OF DANNY UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO
Not only did Katherine answer all our questions, but she would often outline in great detail all the possible options that we hadn’t even thought of. My wife and I have often talked about how wonderful she was and how we could not have gone through this ordeal without her expertise and most importantly, her patience.
CALVIN, PARENT OF SYDNEY UC SANTA BARBARA
Katherine launched our South Bay office in 2013 after a five-year stint as a college counselor at Mira Costa High School. In addition to a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Loyola Marymount, Katherine also earned a college counseling certificate from UCLA, a California multiple subject teaching credential, and a P.P.S. credential in school counseling.
While the effusive praise from Katherine’s students would be enough to prove that she isn’t as bookish as her long list of degrees might indicate, we’ll also point out that Katherine was named “Best Actress” for her stunning portrayal of “Hot Lips” Houlihan in her high school’s production of MASH. When she’s not counseling students or thrilling audiences, chances are that you’ll find Katherine boating with her husband in the blue waters off Redondo Beach.
