I truly do not know what I could have done without Collegewise. I began over the summer before my senior year and was able to be done with my UC apps and personal statement before school started. I was able to have a relaxed and enjoyable senior year and college submission time because of Collegewise.

Ms. Gyori's guidance and professional experience were invaluable throughout the application and enrollment process. I matured both as a writer and young adult during our discussions while exploring new aspects of my character and the methods needed to convey them succinctly in essay format. Ms. Gyori has supported me in periods of good fortune and unforeseen circumstances alike; she truly cares for the wellbeing of all of her students. I am genuinely grateful for her authenticity, and her efforts have exceeded my wildest expectations a hundredfold. I will happily remember to write her an update come four years' time!

I had a wonderful experience working with my counselor! Liz is insightful and helped me focus on the topics I felt most excited about. The editing process was easy and streamlined and Liz's feedback spurred my writing each step of the way. I had a wonderful experience and Collegewise's framework helped ease the stress of college essay writing!

Liz is absolutely amazing! Her professional background and calm demeanor were the perfect match for our son. From generating a college list to the final editing, Ms. Gyori provided exceptional feedback every step of the way. Most importantly, she supported our son's desire for complete ownership of the process and development of his voice. Liz cares personally for each of her students and their families. She is readily available to parents and advises with the utmost professional insight and integrity. Her follow-through went beyond our highest expectations. She is a person who truly cares. Liz is REMARKABLE! We can never thank her enough!

We were completely satisfied with our experience with Collegewise. They are professionals in what they do. We had to switch counselors mid-way but did not feel any discomfort at all as they saw to it that our student was matched perfectly. Liz was a great counselor for our student and easy to work with. We felt we were in capable hands at every step. I would highly recommend her and Collegewise without any hesitation.

Originally our son's search was being managed with another firm and included a focus on athletics. When that changed and we needed to regroup, Collegewise was recommended. Liz Gyori, our family's counselor, was able to jump in and manage a complicated shift and bring order, thoughtfulness and intentional support to the process. Liz's ability to manage the parent and student aspects so skillfully made what could have been a tense process easy. She was honest, focused, reassuring and, in the end, helped our son not only achieve his goal (being accepted ED to his first choice college), she taught him how to critically think about how to approach such an important project, a life skill that will benefit him far beyond this process. We could not be more impressed or more grateful.

Liz Gyori, College Counselor
After engaging with hundreds of students as a college marketing professor and launching her own three children into competitive universities (she’s the proud parent of a documentary filmmaker, a mechanical engineer, and an aspiring human rights attorney), Liz realized her knack for mentoring young adults. She spends time getting to know what makes each student “tick” and is just as comfortable guiding a struggling student as she is supporting a National Merit scholar. Liz is keenly aware of the pressures that students and their families face during this season of their lives, and she is committed to making the college admissions process a positive and encouraging experience for all involved.
Before joining Collegewise, Liz earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Illinois, and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University. While at Northwestern, she worked as a graduate school application reader and a candidate interviewer, and later served as an alumni interviewer for undergraduate admissions right here in the South Bay. In addition to her years of teaching marketing and communications classes, Liz also worked as a writer and a consumer products brand manager (fun fact: Liz met her husband in Chicago at The Quaker Oats company, where he worked on the Cap’n Crunch brand and she worked on the Instant Quaker Oatmeal team).
When the two of them are not eating breakfast together, Liz loves to cycle and hike the coastline or escape with one of the books that need to be read for the (way too many) book clubs she’s joined. In her spare time, she volunteers for a college readiness program near downtown Los Angeles, helping low-income students with their University of California and California State University applications.
