About Collegewise Fanwood
For an office that started as a barn across from the town’s original stagecoach stop, Collegewise’s Fanwood office (formerly Ivy Ed) has certainly come a long way. Our counselors and tutors possess combined experience of 80+ years and have successfully helped students through the testing and admissions process for 14 years. The team has worked with more than 1,000 students to date, remaining dedicated to each and every student’s dynamic college journey.
Beyond the numbers, our group believes in a whole-person counseling perspective: every team member is a trained, high school and college counselor with a mental health background, so the focus upon well-being is vital to helping students grow educationally and socially (we think the beautiful, local artwork adorning the office walls has a lot to do with the overall, mindful vibe here). And even though the barn is long gone, to keep the warmth and charm of the farm alive, one of our amazing tutors built a retractable door from another old barn in Iowa.

What are people saying about Collegewise Fanwood?
I thoroughly enjoyed my Collegewise experience. It took so much stress and pressure off of the application process, and I’m confident it made me a more competitive applicant. I was extremely lucky to have a great counselor…

Working with Joe was great. I liked having an impartial, experienced guide to help my son through the process. The entire experience was very well-organized and that took a lot of the stress away. Joe is very well-versed in the many options for students today. Plus, he’s a very good writer, so his ability to critique my son's essays was extremely helpful. I recommend Joe without reservation!

I truly feel that I'm going to the best college for my personality and interests, and I owe a lot of that to my Collegewise counselor’s advice and guidance. My counselor was very flexible with timing and never made me feel like I was in over my head. Overall, I’m very happy with where I'm going to school and the help that got me there!

Joe helped our daughter decide which schools she should apply to, and then kept her so organized and ahead of her deadlines. We are very grateful to him for shepherding us through this process so smoothly!

Collegewise has been, for me, a fundamental tool to get into the college where I wanted to go! It was a pleasure working with my counselor…I received help with my essays and with each point of my application process!

Joe simplified the process and was able to get our kids (quadruplets) organized and on a schedule so they could meet deadlines. As parents, we were received as ‘nagging’ them to get started on their applications, essays, looking at colleges, etc. Joe started with them and they responded to his requests and demands without a fight. He put them on a schedule and gave them ‘homework,’ which they completed without complaint. They looked forward to meeting with him each week. I think the fact that he isn't a parent making demands on them really worked. It took so much stress out of the college application process for me. That alone is priceless!
