Kaycee has advised students who have attended some of the nation’s most selective colleges, and even though the list of schools is impressive, she believes it is even more important for students to attend a postsecondary option that is a good academic, financial, and social fit.
With 15 years of experience in education, Kaycee has served as a classroom teacher, college counseling director, district-level coach, and high school assistant principal. Kaycee learned early on that her favorite part of being a teacher was counseling and guiding students through challenging times, so when she was presented with the opportunity to become a college counselor in 2012, she couldn't say no. A decade later, Kaycee has not only served as a counselor, but she has also built and led programming and support for school districts across the nation to support them with implementing college advising tools and resources for students and families. She also earned her doctorate from Johns Hopkins University where she researched early college readiness interventions and strategies for high school students.
Kaycee's students say what they like most about her is her fun-spirited, warm demeanor. She believes counseling should be a shared experience, but at the root, there must be trust, effort, and room for joy. In her spare time, Kaycee enjoys cooking, traveling, and binge-watching the latest popular Netflix drama.
