It was God’s gift that we had Laura Dicas as our counselor. Without her, we are not sure our son would have gotten an acceptance from a college. She is very positive, confident, friendly, and always ready to go an extra mile for us. She really understood the strengths and weaknesses of our son and worked with him very closely. She came up with creative ideas to inspire him and encouraged him to be confident. She helped us to navigate the school course choices, SAT exams, and even college visits.
BASKAR, PARENT OF TARUN HIGH POINT UNIVERSITY
Laura Dicas was INCREDIBLE. She not only guided me through college tours, essays, and applications, she also made me feel good about my work and my decisions. Instead of simply advising, she listened. Laura took the time to understand who I am and what I want. This allowed me to write without judgment and ask questions without fear. More than anything, Laura made me feel confident in my work and realistic in my expectations. I would not have survived, yet alone enjoy (shockingly), this process if it wasn’t for Laura. She truly went above and beyond. I consider myself lucky to be her student.
EMILY UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA
Laura joined Collegewise as a seasoned admissions counselor, having spent the entirety of her 17-year career in education working as a high school counselor and in admissions at two small liberal arts colleges and a large public university. Along the way, she earned her master’s degree in Public Administration at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she served as the Associate Director of Admissions before earning her stripes as a Collegewise counselor.
Laura is passionate about helping students find their perfect college fit and coaching families through the (often stressful) college admissions process, but don’t let her credentials and extensive experience in admissions intimidate you—she’s more likely to start her student meetings with a discussion of the latest episode of her favorite Netflix series than with a question about SAT scores. When Laura isn’t expertly guiding her students, you can find her baking, practicing yoga, and learning Italian.
