Susan Gurley, College Counselor

Susan Gurley is a lawyer with 25 years of leadership experience in law school admissions and administration, international legal reform, access to justice initiatives, and global membership-association management. She has been involved in career counseling, international development, and capacity building.

Susan is currently the Executive Director of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA), a non-profit mental health organization that works to destigmatize mental health issues.

Prior to joining ADAA, Susan held senior-level legal positions in several U.S. government agencies and served for four years as the Assistant Dean for International and Graduate Programs at the Georgetown University School of Law, where she ran the largest graduate law program in the United States. At Georgetown, she also taught a course as an Adjunct Faculty member.

Susan lives in Washington D.C. and when not working, she is active on the Boards of various non-profits and volunteers as a technical capacity-building expert overseas. As the Deputy Executive Director of Equal Justice Works, she helped place young lawyers into public interest jobs and as the Director of Legal Reform at the East-West Management Institute, she managed lawyers promoting legal reform in developing countries.

For her volunteer work, she received the International Executive Service Corps Frank Pace award and the 2020 Innovator of the Year award from the United States Agency for International Development’s Farmer-to-Farmer program. One of her joys is working with Collegewise, where she helps guide those who want to attend law school.
