Academic Tutoring & SAT/ACT Test Prep

High school academics can feel like a high-stakes pressure cooker. Whether it's AP Calculus, Chemistry, or the SAT or ACT, it's easy to lose confidence.

At Collegewise, tutoring is about more than cramming for a test or finishing homework. We pair your child with an expert mentor who knows the material and knows how to inspire the student, so anxiety gives way to a clear strategy and self-doubt gives way to confidence built on mastery.

My student is struggling in an AP class or on the SAT or ACT. Can you help?

Yes. Here’s how. We see the person behind the grades.

We pair your teen with an expert mentor who knows the material inside and out, and knows how to teach it. Sessions are one-on-one and personalized to your student’s learning style and exactly what they are facing.

We’ve been doing this for 27 years. We know what works.

The Problem We See All The Time

A bright student is drowning in AP Calculus. A talented kid bombs the SAT because of test anxiety. A capable teen can't keep up with their workload.A bright student is drowning in AP Calculus. A talented kid bombs the SAT because of test anxiety. A capable teen can't keep up with their workload.

The problem is rarely intelligence. It's usually one of these:

No clear strategy for how to study or prepare.
Gaps in underlying concepts, or missing study skills.
Pressure and anxiety that get in the way of performance.
No one who truly understands what they're facing right now.

We pair your child with a dedicated mentor who works one-on-one to close that gap and build skills that last. The goal is more than better grades: a more confident and capable student.

SAT & ACT Test Prep

It's frustrating when a smart kid's test score doesn't reflect their actual ability. Often, the problem isn't the content. It's the strategy, the timing, and the pressure of a high-stakes exam.

We demystify the test and give your student a clear, actionable plan. Our flexible 1:1 sessions focus on strategies and content review, meeting each student where they are.

How we help:
  • We start with a diagnostic: We pinpoint exactly where your student is strong and where they're losing points. Then we build a custom plan focused on the highest-impact areas for score improvement, with no wasted time on what they already know.
  • Full-length practice tests: Full-length practice tests of the digital SAT and ACT, with questions aligned to the official subject categories. Each test comes with a customized score report and tailored recommendations.
  • Diagnostic exams: Diagnostic ACT and SAT exams help your student decide which test to take, when to test, and how many tutoring hours they need.
  • We teach test-day strategy: How to pace themselves. When to move on. When to double-check. How to spot trap answers and navigate trick questions. How to think like the test-makers so they can work smarter, not just harder.
  • We build real confidence: Through targeted practice and test anxiety management, the support of a trusted mentor turns panic into preparation.
Academic Tutoring

In a challenging AP or honors course, one confusing chapter can snowball fast. Lost confidence. Falling grades. Mounting anxiety.

We pair your student with a subject expert who works one-on-one, with flexible sessions focused on strategy and content review, to turn things around. Our instruction is tailored to any curriculum, and we cover over 30 academic subjects, including AP, IB, and A-Level coursework.

The goal is not just to get through the homework. It's to help them actually master the material.

How we help:
  • Help that matches what they face in class: We build customized learning plans and homework assignments around their syllabus. Every session focuses on what they're facing in class right now, not generic lessons.
  • Understanding that lasts past the test: We break down complex topics into clear, understandable concepts. We teach the "why" behind the answer so the knowledge sticks.
  • Exam readiness, planned in advance: Effective study strategies. How to review material well. How to anticipate test questions. How to manage time during exams.
  • Habits that carry into college: Effective note-taking. How to review and learn from mistakes. The executive functioning skills that successful students have.

What Makes Our Tutoring Different

A tutor can explain the material. What makes the difference is the person behind the lessons, how closely the sessions match what your student faces at school, and the support available when a question goes beyond one tutor.

Who Our Tutors Are

Our tutors have studied at Brown, Duke, Princeton, Rutgers, and Stanford, among other universities. Beyond test scores, we look for clear communication, a real connection with students, and the ability to adapt to how each one learns.

Hiring is only the start. Our tutors are trained in a mentorship approach that teaches students how to study and take ownership of their performance, not only the content.
