Collegewise provided me with a better understanding of the college application and decision process than I thought possible. Collegewise’s guidance throughout the process allowed me to really figure out what I was looking for in a college, while also maximizing my options.

I would often be stressed about what I needed to get done or about how things were turning out, but every time I walked out of the office, I was so at ease. I think the most important part about being at Collegewise was how personalized the process was, and how much care and time and effort went into me specifically.

Going to my meetings at Collegewise never felt like a chore, but more as something to look forward to! Everyone in the office is so friendly, willing to help, and made for such great motivators and supporters when it came time to fill in apps and write essays. 10/10!

The college application process is confusing and tedious, and Collegewise really helped with that process. It was reassuring to go over my application with my counselor so that we could make sure that I had a better chance of getting in!

Brittney Gray, College Counselor
Brittney has spent her entire professional career working directly with students as both a teacher and a school counselor. She began her career as a writing and language arts teacher for students ranging from middle school to college-aged before making the move to become a licensed professional school counselor in 2016. She also enjoyed a successful stint at Fusion Global Academy, an online private school, as a post-secondary counselor guiding students through every element of the college application process, from selecting colleges, to completing applications, to brainstorming essays.
It's difficult to overstate just how much Brittney enjoys working with students. For seven years, she successfully managed more than 50 student mentors simultaneously, a role she described as “running a small army of teenagers.” And in her work with teens applying to college, Brittney is quick to point out that she finds “immense joy in supporting them as they embark on one of the most significant transitions in their lives.”
Teens pick up on Brittney’s engagement in her work. They can sense her belief in them and her high expectations as they chase the student’s potential together. That kind of enthusiasm and injection of soul into her work is something we can’t train, even at Collegewise; it must be innate in the counselor doing the work. In Brittney, families will find a counselor who is certain she is doing what she was born to do, who prioritizes the student in front of her, and who still spends every day learning, growing, getting even better within her craft.
I do want to explicitly state that "connection is the foundation of my work with students, so I prioritize knowing who is in front of me in order to fully understand what tools they (un)knowingly have at their disposal. That's my superpower."
As a former English major and writing teacher, Brittney is particularly adept at helping students find and shape their best stories for college essays, a process she roots in “bringing out their authentic voices.” A parent herself and a proud aunt to her nieces and nephews, Brittney also enjoys experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen (she recently learned to make her own jelly) and playing board games.
