Danny Keller, College Counselor

Dr. Danny Keller didn’t just become a counselor—he became the counselor he wished he’d had. When a high school advisor once told him he wasn’t “college material,” Danny didn’t listen. Instead, he built a life devoted to making sure no student is ever defined by someone else’s low expectations. Today, with a doctorate in education and years of experience in public schools, Danny has guided hundreds of students to acceptance at a wide variety of colleges and universities, including Duke, Cornell, Vanderbilt, UNC-Chapel Hill, University of Virginia, , University of Miami, Emory, Tulane, UT-Austin, Purdue, Ohio State, and NYU.

Danny has served as a high school counselor in a large, diverse public school system where formal college advising roles don’t exist—so he created one. He’s spent years coaching students on applications, essays, and personal development, often working with first-generation college applicants, high-achieving students, and teens still discovering what success looks like for them. Danny’s leadership extends beyond his work with students: he’s a trusted voice among colleagues, a collaborator with parents, and a champion for making the admissions process more empowering, not more stressful.

As Danny puts it:

“My goal is to make sure students never feel boxed in by someone else’s definition of their potential. I want them to see that they have options, that they matter, and that their story is worth telling.”

Danny’s counseling style is rooted in warmth, high expectations, and encouragement. His students benefit from his deep knowledge of the application process, his knack for identifying powerful essay angles, and his ability to bring clarity and confidence to every stage of college planning. He’s especially skilled at helping students who may be uncertain about their future—or who just need someone to believe in them.

When he’s not guiding students toward their goals, Danny can most often be found on the pickleball court (which he points out is almost a requirement of residents of South Florida), watching moves, and continuing to develop “his own personal zoo” which currently includes two dogs and two cats.
