Ellie Foreman pattern

Ellie Foreman, College Counselor

Since entering the world of higher education shortly after earning her master’s degree, Ellie's students have been accepted to more than 300 colleges, including highly selective institutions like MIT, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Northwestern, and Carnegie Mellon, flagship public universities such as University of Michigan, University of Virginia, UCLA, and UNC Chapel Hill, and exceptional regional schools like Tulane, Villanova, University of Denver, and Cal Poly. In true Collegewise form, Ellie is equally proud of the acceptances earned by students who discovered schools they had never heard of before and fell in collegiate love. What sets Ellie apart is not just the breadth of these outcomes, but also her unwavering belief that there is a perfect place for every student to grow and thrive.

Ellie has a particular gift for working with students who feel intimidated by the college process but are eager to dive in—the “I’m ready to go but have no idea where to start” families who arrive excited, engaged, and nervous all at once. As Ellie puts it: “Give me that student who doubts themselves—I love building them up, showing them that they have so many options, and celebrating all the wins along the way as they gain confidence in themselves.”

This philosophy stems from Ellie’s own experience of finding the college search process stressful and overwhelming. Having walked in her students’ shoes, she approaches each relationship with genuine empathy and understanding. She believes wholeheartedly in the value of a college education and that finding the right fit matters far more than chasing prestige. Families consistently praise Ellie for her organization, attention to detail, proactive communication, and knack for recommending under-the-radar gems to add to a student’s college list.

After graduating from Colorado State University, Ellie recruited students for her alma mater before joining the University of Denver in enrollment services. She then made the leap to the counseling side as an academic and college counselor at Valor Christian High School, during which time she also served as an external application reader for UC San Diego, before ultimately joining Collegewise. A student and teacher of the college admissions process, Ellie has also presented at the annual National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) conference—the largest professional gathering of college admissions professionals in the country—on how teachers and counselors can write stronger letters of recommendation for their students.

A Colorado resident and true outdoor enthusiast, Ellie loves hiking, camping, and enjoying brewery patios on Saturday afternoons. During the colder months, she prefers to admire the snow from indoors while baking, tackling DIY house projects, or working toward her goal of reading 100 books per year.
