Collegewise provided me with a better understanding of the college application and decision process than I thought possible. Collegewise’s guidance throughout the process allowed me to really figure out what I was looking for in a college, while also maximizing my options.

I would often be stressed about what I needed to get done or about how things were turning out, but every time I walked out of the office, I was so at ease. I think the most important part about being at Collegewise was how personalized the process was, and how much care and time and effort went into me specifically.

Going to my meetings at Collegewise never felt like a chore, but more as something to look forward to! Everyone in the office is so friendly, willing to help, and made for such great motivators and supporters when it came time to fill in apps and write essays. 10/10!

The college application process is confusing and tedious, and Collegewise really helped with that process. It was reassuring to go over my application with my counselor so that we could make sure that I had a better chance of getting in!

Jeanne Ringwald, College Counselor
Since beginning her admissions career in 2019, Jeanne’s students have gone on to attend dozens of competitive colleges and universities, including Princeton, Yale, MIT, NYU, Rice, Columbia, Bard, Swarthmore, Hamilton, Middlebury, Syracuse, Northeastern, and Boston University. Jeanne started as a College Advisor at Brooklyn High School of the Arts through a partnership with NYU College Advising Corps, where she created—and then taught—a schoolwide college access curriculum. Jeanne then served as Senior College Access Advisor for Bottom Line, where she supported 150 seniors through their admissions and financial aid applications. Her broad college advising and curriculum development experience has helped Jeanne master the nuances of a complete college application, from the student’s record, to essays, to the letters of recommendation from teachers and counselors.
While her expertise encompasses many fields of study, Jeanne’s work at an art school gave her the opportunity to work with many students who were applying for dance, theater, voice, and instrumental programs. These programs, which call for portfolios and auditions as part of the application process, reinforced for Jeanne that the most effective college applications are ultimately presentations. In other words, it’s about recognizing what makes a student an intriguing, interesting candidate, and then presenting that information in a clear and compelling way within the application—from describing activities, to arranging lists of honors and awards, to selecting the best stories to share in essays. Jeanne’s work recognizes that every student has something to offer, a story worth telling, and a unique history. She understands that no two students are the same, even when they present similar qualifications.
Outside of work, Jeanne is currently pursuing a Master’s in Social Work (MSW) to nurture her interest in teen mental health. When she’s not annotating her grad school textbooks, you can find her playing on a recreational soccer team that holds two distinctive honors: (1) Most losses, and (2) Most fun.
