Working with Katie has made my college search and application process an amazing experience. I thoroughly enjoyed every meeting with her, and even had fun (not something you hear all the time from a teenager applying to colleges!). The Collegewise method and Katie's guidance was an integral part in making my application process manageable and successful. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to work with Katie and the editors who really helped me clarify and improve my main essay and supplemental essays with constructive feedback, which I believe made my applications much stronger.

Katie’s guidance and support helped us through what could’ve easily been a nightmare college application process. She made the experience very positive for our family. Her intuition, calm demeanor, and quiet direction turned everything around. Her message to Emery was consistent and unwavering: trust yourself. Katie led gently, but supported fiercely, and I had the pleasure of watching my daughter forge a unique path that feels just right for her. Katie gave the gift of pride and excitement to my daughter, and that's priceless.

Katie made the college application process easier than I ever could have imagined! She’s extremely knowledgeable and broke everything into clear, doable chunks, making for a smooth and easy process for my daughter. She covered the testing schedule, school choices, essay brainstorming, and application submissions. The biggest bonus for me was having a third party whom my daughter respected manage the process. Katie's knowledge is so impressive, I didn’t have to battle with my teenager at all. Katie made the journey seamless and allowed us to celebrate the milestones and victories. We cannot thank her enough for all of her help—we appreciate it immensely!

We could not be happier with Katie and Collegewise! We were dreading the college application process, and Katie made it an enjoyable experience. From the beginning, she made it all about our daughter and listened to who she was and what she wanted. She broke the application process down into small steps that made the process totally manageable—never overwhelming—and totally enjoyable. We highly recommend her to anyone who is going through the college search and application process. She is truly amazing!

I don’t think I could have survived the college application process without Katie! She kept me on track to finish my applications early, helped me write quality essays, managed the supplemental parts of my application, and kept my nerves in-check throughout the whole process. The thing I liked the most about working with Katie was that she made writing college essays so easy. I have trouble writing and coming up with ideas about myself, and Katie would ask me questions and pick out interesting topics out of our casual conversation. This made the writing process a million times easier because I had an outside source offering feedback and helping me structure and edit.

Katie Konrad Moore, College Counselor
Katie has guided more than 700 students through the college admissions process, making her one of our most experienced and successful college counselors. Her students have been accepted to more than 250 colleges and universities and have gone on to attend nearly 170 different schools. In fact, the list of colleges that have offered admission to Katie’s students now includes every letter of the alphabet except Z: Agnes Scott; Brown; Carnegie Mellon; Dartmouth; Emerson; Fordham; Gonzaga; Hamilton; Indiana University; Johns Hopkins; Kansas; LMU; MIT; NYU; Occidental; Penn State; Quinnipiac; Rice; Santa Clara; TCU; all the UC (University of California) schools; Vanderbilt; Wesleyan; Xavier; and Yale.
The only counselor in Collegewise history to be hired immediately after graduating from college, Katie was the first recipient of our venerable Collegewise Counselor of the Year award in 2015, a distinction recognizing not only her success working with students but also her significant contributions as a trainer, mentor, and all-around supportive Collegewise colleague. She holds a certificate in college admissions counseling from UCLA and has been a regular contributor to Collegewise's internal counselor newsletter, The Digest, since 2015, sharing insights and expertise with colleagues across the organization.
Katie is the rare professional who spends her days doing what she believes she was born to do. Families consistently praise her authentic, calm, and organized approach to college counseling, frequently citing her ability to transform a stressful process into one that’s manageable and even enjoyable. Offering her trademark gentle guidance and fierce support throughout their journeys, Katie enjoys working with all different types of students; she loves going from one meeting with a C student to another with a future valedictorian. The relationships she builds with families, the connections she maintains to so many of her former students during and even after their college careers, and the eagerness with which she arrives at every professional development opportunity—it’s all evidence of someone who discovered early in life what they loved to do and still invests the attention and energy to stay at the very top of her professional game.
Asked to share some examples of truly memorable students, Katie served up the following among her favorites: the ballroom dancer with purple hair who ended up at the Naval Academy, the dad-joke-loving seamstress who attended Stanford, the ballet dancer turned drummer who found her home at Simon Fraser, the double-jointed jazz phenom who became Drum Major at Temple, and the zoology-obsessed basketball player who thrived at Claremont McKenna.
A graduate of Colgate University, Katie was a Division I collegiate softball pitcher who can still hurl a fastball with unrelenting speed–provided she has ample opportunity to stretch first. When she's not counseling students, Katie can be found working on various crafts (currently charm necklaces), preparing batches of her amazing homemade tomato sauce, and engaging in animated conversations about her various passions, which include but are not limited to her dog Booker, clothing rental and thrift shopping, feminism, pop culture, and yes, college admissions.
