Collegewise provided me with a better understanding of the college application and decision process than I thought possible. Collegewise’s guidance throughout the process allowed me to really figure out what I was looking for in a college, while also maximizing my options.

I would often be stressed about what I needed to get done or about how things were turning out, but every time I walked out of the office, I was so at ease. I think the most important part about being at Collegewise was how personalized the process was, and how much care and time and effort went into me specifically.

Going to my meetings at Collegewise never felt like a chore, but more as something to look forward to! Everyone in the office is so friendly, willing to help, and made for such great motivators and supporters when it came time to fill in apps and write essays. 10/10!

The college application process is confusing and tedious, and Collegewise really helped with that process. It was reassuring to go over my application with my counselor so that we could make sure that I had a better chance of getting in!

Liz Majors, College Counselor
In a career spanning more than two decades, Liz has built expertise on both sides—counseling and admissions—of the college process. Her students have been admitted to an impressive range of institutions, including Yale, UCLA, Boston College, Colby, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Tulane, Notre Dame, Colorado School of Mines, Clemson, Indiana, Washington University in St. Louis, University of Miami, Nebraska, and all five military academies. She's successfully guided students through the NCAA Division I, II, and III recruitment process, as well as NAIA and NJCAA pathways, while maintaining particular expertise in military academy nominations and ROTC scholarship programs.
Liz's unique perspective comes from her extensive experience working at colleges and universities before transitioning to high school counseling. She's logged successful stints at institutions ranging from Johnson County Community College to the University of San Diego, from small private liberal arts colleges like William Jewell to large state universities like Emporia State and Pittsburg State. This diverse background—combined with her role as a seasonal application reader for the University of San Diego—gives her rare insight into how admissions committees actually make decisions.
During her stint as Director of College Counseling at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School, Liz distinguished herself by developing comprehensive programming that serves every student, regardless of their post-secondary goals. She's particularly proud of creating a school profile representing increased diversity in college destinations and improved acceptance rates.
Liz's counseling superpower lies in her attention to detail and her ability to make students feel genuinely heard, regardless of where they are in their college planning journey. Her favorite counseling moments come when a student ends their conversation saying, "I feel so much better now!" She thrives on helping families navigate what can be an overwhelming process, bringing calm and clarity to both students and parents along the way.
As Liz describes her approach:
I am someone who will genuinely care about you and your student and am willing to work with you to find the best fit for your child and your family. I am kind, but firm (an approach I also embrace as a parent). We will talk a lot about balance and finding balance within your college list but also what you want out of your college experience. I have had multiple parents say to me, "you were our calm through it all."
Liz has served as treasurer for both the Missouri Association for College Admission Counseling and the Great Plains Association for College Admission Counseling. She's presented at NACAC national conferences and contributed to the field through her work on scholarship review committees and conference planning. Her commitment to professional development is evident in her extensive college touring—over 80 institutions visited—all funded through personal invitations and conference travel.
A California native who has made Kansas her home for the past 20 years, Liz is set for her next adventure—Omaha, Nebraska. She can often be found cheering on her two children, Finn and Marek, in their various activities. When she's not in the office, you'll likely find her outdoors—at the lake, enjoying mountain views, or tending to her garden. She's an avid consumer of audiobooks and podcasts, perfect companions for the extensive travel that comes with supporting her active family.
