Collegewise provided me with a better understanding of the college application and decision process than I thought possible. Collegewise’s guidance throughout the process allowed me to really figure out what I was looking for in a college, while also maximizing my options.

I would often be stressed about what I needed to get done or about how things were turning out, but every time I walked out of the office, I was so at ease. I think the most important part about being at Collegewise was how personalized the process was, and how much care and time and effort went into me specifically.

The college application process is confusing and tedious, and Collegewise really helped with that process. It was reassuring to go over my application with my counselor so that we could make sure that I had a better chance of getting in!

Lynne O'Shaughnessy, College Counselor
Lynne’s students have gone on to attend virtually every selective college on the East Coast, including seven Ivy League institutions, Georgetown, Middlebury, Boston College, Carnegie Mellon, and the University of Chicago (which is not technically the East Coast but serves as evidence that her expertise is not limited to schools residing in the Eastern time zone).
In addition to her 10-year stint as senior associate director of college counseling at Berwick Academy in Maine, Lynne spent seven years as executive director of the New England Association for College Admission Counseling, where she was named Professional of the Year in 2022. In that role, Lynne worked closely with admissions leaders and school counselors up and down the East Coast. In fact, Lynne is so well known and respected in our profession that we recognized her name immediately when her (impeccable) application came across our recruiting desk. She is, quite simply, a college counseling legend in the Northeast.
Here’s how Lynne describes her work as a college counselor:
“My superpower is helping students find their confidence and strengths in the admissions process. I have extensive experience working with teenagers in various roles as a college counselor, teacher, coach, and advisor. My approach is to create a supportive environment where students feel at ease while striving to achieve their full potential.”
A mom of two kids of her own, one who has graduated college and another who is in his senior year, Lynne is also adept at helping parents find a sense of calm and reassurance as their kids plan their journey to college. When she’s not counseling or parenting, you’ll find Lynne enjoying New York-style pizza, working on her golf game, and playing with her rescue dog.
