Collegewise provided me with a better understanding of the college application and decision process than I thought possible. Collegewise’s guidance throughout the process allowed me to really figure out what I was looking for in a college, while also maximizing my options.

I would often be stressed about what I needed to get done or about how things were turning out, but every time I walked out of the office, I was so at ease. I think the most important part about being at Collegewise was how personalized the process was, and how much care and time and effort went into me specifically.

Going to my meetings at Collegewise never felt like a chore, but more as something to look forward to! Everyone in the office is so friendly, willing to help, and made for such great motivators and supporters when it came time to fill in apps and write essays. 10/10!

The college application process is confusing and tedious, and Collegewise really helped with that process. It was reassuring to go over my application with my counselor so that we could make sure that I had a better chance of getting in!

Scott Wilson, College Counselor
Scott brings more than a decade of experience to Collegewise, having guided students through every stage of the college admissions process—from high school course selection and extracurricular planning to securing internships at some of the world's most innovative companies. His students have been admitted to all UC campuses, USC, MIT, Brown, Notre Dame, UNC Chapel Hill, University of Florida, Vanderbilt, University of Washington, and many more.
Scott's career began with College Advising Corps, a college access nonprofit in rural North Carolina, where he worked directly with hundreds of high school students from marginalized identities—first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented minorities—through the entirety of the college admissions process. He then spent over six years at UCLA Undergraduate Admission, where he spearheaded recruitment initiatives across California and the United States, supervised professional and student teams, and engaged families through workshops and presentations that demystified the college admissions process. Having reviewed over 10,000 applications as both a recruiter and seasonal application reader, Scott developed deep expertise in UC admissions and became a sought-after presenter at hundreds of high schools and large-scale campus events.
Scott's unique perspective expanded when he transitioned into university recruiting at Meta and SpaceX, where he developed skills in technical sourcing and learned the profile needed for students to secure lucrative internships and new graduate roles in tech. This corporate experience, combined with his continued work as a UCLA Admissions Reader and college counselor through an independent college advising firm, allows him to provide families with a holistic picture of their children's journey from high school through college and beyond.
As Scott puts it:
I aim to make the college admissions process manageable and a storytelling opportunity. I bring a fun and low-stress vibe to every meeting because I believe families deserve guidance that feels supportive, not overwhelming.
Scott particularly excels at working with first-generation students, those from marginalized identities (especially LGBTQ+ students and families), rural communities, and STEM-focused students. His counseling superpower lies in essay brainstorming having worked extensively with UC Personal Insight Questions, he's developed a skill for helping students break through the fluff and present their best selves in a way that's true to their story but concise and impactful.
When Scott isn't helping students craft their college stories, you can find him exploring Los Angeles' vibrant food scene, working out daily, and spending time with his French Bulldog, Kiwi.
