Shoshana Krieger-Joven, College Counselor

In a college counseling career spanning two decades, Shoshana's students have been admitted to hundreds of colleges and universities, including Yale, Cornell, UPenn, Dartmouth, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Georgetown, Northeastern, Williams, Wesleyan, Amherst, NYU, Boston College, UCLA, Smith, Bryn Mawr, Skidmore, Hamilton, and Bucknell. Her deep experience encompasses work at prestigious institutions from multiple perspectives—as an admissions counselor, assistant director of admissions, financial aid counselor, and now as a dedicated college counselor guiding students through their transformative journey to higher education.

Shoshana's path to college counseling began with her own transformative experience at the University of Chicago, an experience so profound that it inspired her lifelong dedication to helping other students find their perfect fit. She has worked exclusively in college admissions and counseling since graduating in 2006, logging successful stints as an admissions counselor at Trinity University, assistant director of admissions at the University of Chicago, financial aid counselor at NYU, and as Associate Director of College Counseling at Portledge School. This comprehensive experience—having sat on both sides of the admissions desk—allows her to bring unique insight into how colleges make decisions and what truly makes applicants stand out.

What sets Shoshana apart is her ability to work successfully with students across the entire academic spectrum, from those targeting the most selective institutions to first-generation college students exploring their options. Her experience working with La Scuola d'Italia, a bilingual Italian-English school, has also given her deep familiarity with international families navigating the U.S. admissions landscape.

She is comfortable with a wide variety of post-secondary paths and types of applicants, from STEM to small liberal arts colleges, athletes to artists, high achievers to underdogs, and even transfer students.

Shoshana's counseling superpower lies in encouraging students to embrace their authentic selves throughout the college application process.

As she puts it:

I firmly believe that being as fully oneself as possible leads to the best outcomes, and I love helping students recognize the value of leaning into their authenticity and vulnerability in the college application process.

A former Division III varsity tennis player who also sang in a Jewish a cappella group called Rhythm and Jews during her college years, Shoshana also enjoys blues dancing, rehabilitating abandoned succulent plants, and exploring the outdoors through hiking and camping.
