Meet Our Counselors

Stacey Milton

College Counselor

Many families who seek out a college counselor are overwhelmed, anxious, and need an expert they can trust to make sure everything will be OK. Stacey Milton has spent more than two decades building the credibility to have those conversations.

Families notice Stacey’s balance right away: she’s honest without being harsh, structured without being rigid, and confident enough in her recommendations to hold her ground when she knows doing so is in the family’s best interest. Her students have been admitted to multiple Ivy League schools along with Stanford, Duke, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, and dozens of other selective universities.

Stacey began her career in Boston University’s admissions office, where she was an application reader for a territory spanning the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic and served for several years as BU’s admissions liaison for homeschooled applicants. She later moved into private college counseling on California’s Central Coast, spending a decade at a boutique firm before joining Collegewise. Along the way, she’s built particular depth with premed, nursing, and recruited athletes, especially water polo and volleyball players. She holds a B.S. in Print Journalism and an M.Ed. in Higher Education, both from Boston University.

Stacey was a competitive gymnast growing up, training and competing at a level serious enough that she homeschooled for two years to make it work. It’s an experience that gives her firsthand insight into students trying to balance an all-consuming commitment with a college list, whether that’s a sport, a sustained art form, or something else entirely.

Her counseling philosophy centers on ownership. As she puts it: “I want to understand a student’s goals so I can guide them toward building a list of colleges where they’ll thrive.”

Outside of work, Stacey sings with Rock Voices, a community rock choir, and has recently taken up cyanotype printmaking alongside sewing and other DIY projects. She’s also an avid video gamer drawn to immersive, exploration-heavy games, and has picked up a working knowledge of Minecraft courtesy of her son.
