Collegewise provided me with a better understanding of the college application and decision process than I thought possible. Collegewise’s guidance throughout the process allowed me to really figure out what I was looking for in a college, while also maximizing my options.

I would often be stressed about what I needed to get done or about how things were turning out, but every time I walked out of the office, I was so at ease. I think the most important part about being at Collegewise was how personalized the process was, and how much care and time and effort went into me specifically.

Going to my meetings at Collegewise never felt like a chore, but more as something to look forward to! Everyone in the office is so friendly, willing to help, and made for such great motivators and supporters when it came time to fill in apps and write essays. 10/10!

The college application process is confusing and tedious, and Collegewise really helped with that process. It was reassuring to go over my application with my counselor so that we could make sure that I had a better chance of getting in!

Tara Blanchard, College Counselor
Tara Blanchard has become a go-to counselor for local families looking for support and guidance with the college admissions process. After navigating the admissions process three times with her own children, she’s exceptionally empathetic to the excitement and sometimes trepidation that families often experience on their college journeys. She’s helped students with athletic recruiting, artistic portfolios, and military academy applications.
Tara earned her bachelor's degree from Harvard University and then headed off to George Washington University for her JD. Tara had a successful law career, tackling everything from employment law and professional ethics to securities litigation and disability benefits cases. After Tara left law, she worked at The Primary Day School in Bethesda in development and special events -- Tara was managing the annual fundraisers, gala, and all the parent volunteers. When Tara's family relocated to Connecticut, she worked as a development consultant and the Interim Executive Director of Community Centers, Inc., an organization that supports low-income families, seniors, and people with special needs.
Tara is a book nerd (historical fiction), a national soccer champ (with her club team in high school), and won points with her kids when she earned "Best Chanukah Latkes" three years running. In addition to being an avid tennis player who’s active in local competitions, she's also a baker and likes making cookies for any occasion. Her background making thoughtful (legally-sound) arguments, helping anxious parents, and getting support to make big things happen appears to be the perfect mix -- Tara can handle anything when it comes to college admissions.
