Collegewise provided me with a better understanding of the college application and decision process than I thought possible. Collegewise’s guidance throughout the process allowed me to really figure out what I was looking for in a college, while also maximizing my options.

I would often be stressed about what I needed to get done or about how things were turning out, but every time I walked out of the office, I was so at ease. I think the most important part about being at Collegewise was how personalized the process was, and how much care and time and effort went into me specifically.

Going to my meetings at Collegewise never felt like a chore, but more as something to look forward to! Everyone in the office is so friendly, willing to help, and made for such great motivators and supporters when it came time to fill in apps and write essays. 10/10!

The college application process is confusing and tedious, and Collegewise really helped with that process. It was reassuring to go over my application with my counselor so that we could make sure that I had a better chance of getting in!

Maddie Chappell, College Counselor
Maddie spent six years in the admissions office at Emory University, eventually rising to the rank of Senior Assistant Dean of Admissions. She’s not only read “tens of thousands” of applications for admission (and even more college essays), but she also managed Emory’s competitive merit-based scholarship selection process. Her experience as a voting member of an admissions committee at a high-ranking university benefits her students at every stage of the advising process, from planning courses and activities, to selecting appropriate colleges, to brainstorming compelling stories for college essays. Her students have gone on to attend some of the most selective colleges in the country, including Princeton, Georgia Tech, Emory, UCLA, Williams, University of Michigan, and George Washington University.
Maddie has experience in nearly every facet of college advising and loves helping motivated students navigate major life decisions. She’s run admissions bootcamps, guided student athletes through the recruiting process, and managed interfamily differences of college-related opinion. Throughout it all, Maddie strives to help each student take charge of their own admissions process, encouraging them to think deeply about what they hope to gain from a college experience. As she puts it:
I understand the need to push students first to reflect internally before they start searching externally. My goal is for everyone to be happy and successful. Let’s define what those mean for you, and then work towards those goals.
When she’s not guiding students through the college admissions process, you’ll likely find Maddie enjoying artisanal hot tea or engaging in a number of different sports. You won’t, however, find her running, as Maddie admits she would rather do “literally just about anything else.”
